Environment
Current activities
The TomTom Green Statement,
developed in 2007, outlines our commitment to continuous
improvement on environmental issues.
We recognise that our business activities have both a direct and indirect impact on the societies in which we operate and on the wider environment in which we all live.
We also recognise that our greatest environmental impact comes through our products and that we have a responsibility to try to minimize this impact, by:
- Maximising the reuse and recycling of products in our design process
- Wherever possible, manufacturing our products from sustainable resources
- In 2006, 93% of components in TomTom PNDs were recyclable, exceeding the requirements of the European Union (EU) directive on the collection, treatment and recycling of electronic waste (WEEE directive)
- All TomTom products comply with the EU directive on the restricted use of hazardous substances (RoHS directive)
Less fuel, less emissions, less environmental
impact
We are delighted that independent research has recently proven that
using a TomTom personal navigation solution reduces the kilometres
you drive by up to 16%. Resulting in a significant reduction in
fuel consumption. Which is good news for both the motorist and the
environment.
