TomTom sells PND's and guidance software in over 30 countries, mainly in Europe and North America, with still low penetration levels. Markets outside of these two main regions include Australia, Brazil, China, New Zealand, South Africa and Taiwan.
In Europe, only around 20% of the 210 million cars on the road are equipped with some kind of navigation device, while in various surveys more than 40% of car drivers indicate that they would be very interested in a navigation solution.
The North American market has been lagging behind the European market with less than 10% of the 260 million cars equipped with navigation devices. However, consumer acceptance grew in 2007 and growth in the US continues to be extremely strong.
